Electronic filings make more sense then the old-fashioned paper trial. Despite this fact, and the fact that Federal Courts have been successfully using electronic filing and document management for years, the Los Angeles County Superior Court still does not have electronic filings. I know that this issue is complicated and the budget cuts do not help. But, I look forward to the day when electronic filings are the norm for the Los Angeles County Superior Court. I know when Schorr Law files its paperwork it currently uses attorney services who specialize in making such filings. However, because the court’s filing system is so backlogged we have to send additional courtesy copies to the department where our matter is set to be heard so that we can make sure the appropriate judge receives our paperwork before our hearings. In other words, we now send 2 copies instead of just 1 because of the backlog. With electronic filings we would sit in our office and upload everything. One day soon…..I hope.
