Schorr Law’s C. Mina Kim was recently quoted in an article appearing on www.medicalofficetoday.com entitled “Working with Your Landlord to Reduce CAM Charges“. The article focuses on ways that commercial tenants can work with their landlord to reduce their common area maintenance charges. This includes planning ahead when entering into a new lease and making sure the lease specifically identifies the common area maintenance charges and what the tenant can expect in common area maintenance charges.
In the article, Kim discusses a common dispute between commercial landlords and commercial tenants regarding whether a common area maintenance charge is properly chargeable to a tenant. And she mentions the importance of obtaining audit rights for a tenant to be able to review the landlord’s common area maintenance expense charges.
